Life story
May 8, 1955

Carolyn Luvina Jones was born on May 8, 1955 in Los Angeles, California to the parentage of James and Barbara (Hayes) Jones.

She accepted Christ at an early age and continued serving our Lord and Savior throughout her life. Carolyn joined Jesus Christ Faith Center under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Jeff Bobo, where she faithfully served twenty-eight (28) years.

She obtained her formal education by attending 66th Street Elementary, going onto Thomas El Edison Junior High, receiving her high school diploma in the graduating Class of 1973 from Los Angeles (L.A.) High.

In 1973 Carolyn Jones and Phillip Hunter would be united in holy matrimony and to this union two (2) children were born; one daughter, Chantel Monique and one son, Jason Phillip.

Carolyn devoted her life to her children making many sacrifices as any mother would to provide them with a better future. She went above and beyond her call of duty therefore leaving a lasting impression on their hearts and lives as the "World’s Greatest Mom."

She would enter the workforce in 1978 as a Special Education driver for Associated. She became licensed as a Heavy Lift-Gate bus driver and continued her employment at Associated for seven (7) years. In 1985 she would leave their employment to join L.A.U.S.D. where she was a driver also. Carolyn loved her job and she loved her students, in fact she even became friends with many of her students’ parents.

On February 20, 2010 her illness would cause her to retire early after being with L.A.U.S.D. for twenty-four (24) years.

Carolyn enjoyed watching her favorite T.V. shows such as; Prison Break, 24, Criminal Minds, True Blood, NipTuck, House and Dexter just to name a few and she loved good movies too. She enjoyed listening to gospel music as well. But of all her joys her favorite was being a grandmother and spending time with her three (3) grandchildren Camden, Jaden, and Taylor. She supported them in all their endeavors such as birthday parties, christenings, and sporting events.

She was loved by all that she came in contact with, she never met a stranger. Carolyn never judged you and she always greeted you with a smile. If you were a friend in need, she was a true friend in deed.

In 2005, she was diagnosed with cancer and God was not ready for His child to come home so she won that battle. In 2008, Carolyn learned that the cancer had returned and Our Heavenly Father gave her an unbelievable strength to endure and fight for nearly two (2) years.

On Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 4:02 p.m. with family at her side God decided to whisper in Carolyn’s ear, job well done my faithful servant of fifty-four (54) years, it is time to "Come and Rest."

Carolyn has completed her journey with us; she has touched each and every one of our lives in a special way. Hold tight to your memories and all that she has taught you, she will truly be missed by many and loved by all.
